04. Colors
Earth tones only! Lol, any Office fans here? (S5: E26, 18:05) But for real. Earth tones are amazing for your images because they complement any location, especially natural landscapes. Neutral colors aren’t just beige and grey. Each color has an earthy shade. Think mustard yellow, forest green, navy blue, burnt orange, etc. I mainly recommend that you stay away from bright or neon colors. A few colors to try and avoid are bright oranges and reds, and sometimes pinks. These colors have a weird effect and can make your skin look a bit off in photos. However, if you’ve got some clothes that you absolutely love or you’re going for a more fashion-focused shoot, then let’s go for it! I’m a huge fan of colorful outfits too.
05. Patterns
Things to avoid: chunky, loud, busy, heavy patterns.
Things to bring: small and subtle patterns.
Why? If a pattern is really chunky and busy, it can be super distracting from your face and the location. Try to avoid pairing patterns together, like if you’re wearing checkered bottoms then go with a plain top, or vice versa.
